Astrid is a passionate advocate for the central importance of women in successful sustainable development, economic growth and poverty eradication. Her global diplomatic wanderings as an executive with the Canadian Foreign Service have shown her that where women have been educated and empowered, economic growth and stability follow. Where these basic rights have been denied, the result too frequently is economic stagnation, civil unrest and terrorism.
Astrid’s heads a boutique consulting company working on policy and programming at the intersection of gender, economics, entrepreneurship and leadership and has worked with governments, private sector, international institutions and non-profits around the world. Astrid is the founder and Godmother of the supplier diversity movement for women-owned business enterprises in Canada and is the first Canadian to be inducted into the United States Women Business Enterprise Hall of Fame.
