Eduardo has worked in the mining sector for more than 30 years in various functions including geology, financial analysis, general consulting, and corporate work.
Over the last two decades, involved in sustainability aspects of the mining business, starting with the Mining, Minerals and Sustainable Development – MMSD research project, commissioned by the Global Mining Initiative (precursor organization to the International Council on Mining and Metals – ICMM).
Collaborated with ICMM, including the World Bank’s Extractive Industries Review (2001-2004 as representative of Peru’s mining sector). Founding member of groups that pursue sustainability issues, such as the National Working Group of the Voluntary Principles on Security and the Human Rights, and the National Commission of the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative – EITI.
Member of the board of the organization entrusted with the United Nation’s International Year of Planet Earth (2008).
Other topics of interest and experience include Free Prior and Informed Consent, Social License to Operate, Indigenous Peoples Issues, and Inter-faith Dialogue (mostly Christian denominations).
