Ana a degree in law and a PhD from Alicante University, Spain (Mining, Sociology) and FEI University in São Paulo, Brazil (sustainability/business administration) research focused on the development of strategies for earning a ‘social licence to operate’ in the international mining industry and methods for effective community engagement. She has specialized in the use of planning tools such as social impact assessment, participatory evaluation methods, and alternative methods for conflict resolution.

Currently leads the social license research group at FEI University Brazil for a post doctorate, project “Key drivers for social license to operate and for the development of metrics to access the level of social acceptance by local community stakeholders” approved by Vale Mining R&D funding.
